On Friday, September 14th the team from the Center for Financial Planning came out to Curtis Simpson’s house in Southfield to help make some repairs on his home. They were a great team, everyone worked hard and got along great with Curtis, who was an incredibly kind and friendly man.
The scope of the work largely focused on the outside of the house, with various teams focusing on projects like building a retaining wall on the outside of the house. Others power washed the siding and replaced part of the siding that was missing in the rear of the house. A couple of particularly handy volunteers fixed the rear storm door and repaired the deck in the rear of the house.
On the inside of the house, a team was put to work on painting the rear room of the Simpson household. They did a wonderful job, being very careful not to get any paint on the floor. The whole team was filled with willing and able volunteers, eager to help in any way they could.
When all of the work on the outside was complete, Curtis came out and immediately said: “this isn’t my house, this is somebody else’s house.” He was elated with the work that the volunteers did that day, and was so grateful for everything that they did. We want to extend a huge thank you to the Center for Financial Planning team, they really did an excellent job on Curtis’ house. And, of course, we thank Curtis for welcoming us into his home and allowing us to help him.
